Exercise and Health

The Exercise and Health research group works within the 5*-rated Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences (RISES). Its world-class research is led by internationally-recognised research scientists and is themed into:

Human Development & Ageing (David Goldspink)
Exercise & Cardiovascular Physiology (Danny Green)
Muscle Physiology, Cell Biology & Proteomics (Jatin Burniston)

A common major goal across its wide range of interdisciplinary research involves determining how exercise can best be employed to exert a positive impact on health, whether viewed from a preventative or therapeutic context. While most of this research is laboratory-based in the state-of-the-art facilities at the Henry Cotton Campus, the overall aim is to apply its findings to the community and address current issues of public health.

A major goal of the Exercise and Health research group is to examine the best intensities and modes of exercise for maximal health-benefits across the lifespan.
