Introduction
Many new food products and domestic appliances are developed every year and the food related media has exploded over the last decade with a plethora of food programmes on television and radio and an upsurge in the amount of food magazines available. Home Economists are involved at every stage of product or appliance development from concept to launch.
Throughout the Home Economics programme opportunities will be provided to enable you to be involved in real life projects such as food product development and appliance technology, which replicate the type and level of work you will be expected to achieve in industry and help you to develop marketable skills. Relevant guest speakers from various disciplines will contribute to modules such as gastronomy and the food media and food design and technology to enhance the learning experience.
The programme also provides opportunities to gain world of work (WoW) and graduate skills which will help to enhance future employability. Further opportunities to gain valuable employment skills are provided through the Home Economics and the professional practioner module.
