The UK Research Office (UKRO) has recently announced a number of training events aimed at research staff who will be considering submitting a proposal for the FP7 Marie Curie - Initial Training Network (ITN) and the Industry Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) calls. There are also similar training events aimed at submitting proposals for the recent European Research Council (ERC) calls for Starter and Advanced Grants.
The Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) was set up by the European Commission to support Research & Technological Development throughout the European Union.
The Marie Curie events take place at venues in Edinburgh and Warwick and will run on 17 and 27 September 2012 respectively.
There are five events for the ERC call with three in London, and the other two taking place in Leicester and Glasgow. These events will run between 21 August and 16 October 2012.
The main aim of the training sessions is to provide participants with an overview of the two programme areas along with an understanding of the proposal format and the key issues required to address with the planning, writing and costing of a proposal.
Attendance at the training events is free of charge thanks to the support of the programme organisations hosting the events. However, booking is essential and places are on a first come, first served basis.
