22 February 2012

LJMU students hear about equality in the workplace.

Human Resource Management student, Alex Stephens, recently organised a valuable session for his fellow students in their final year of the BA degree.

Dave Partington, from Transport for Greater Manchester, the organisation responsible for implementing local transport policy in the area, delivered a Specialist Practitioner Class which explained how his organisation managed equality issues and had responded to equality legislation.

Ashlee Moore who participated in the class said:

"It was good to have an organisational context to support the theory and case studies that I had learnt in class."

Another final year HRM student, Katie Sorenson,  commented that a different viewpoint on how to approach equality had been "interesting and valuable".

Dave's visit was part of a series of specialist practitioner classes organised by the HRM students to give the group first-hand experience of human resource strategy and techniques in action, particularly around complex issues in the workplace.
