Students create a wonderland

08 December 2011

LJMU students of Fine Art and Creative Writing have joined forces to create The Art Lids, an emerging artistic group which aims to take art into the local community.

Their first project was a Live Art Studio in Ropewalks Square as part of the Bold Street Festival earlier this year. During the event The Art Lids met some of the team at City Central BID, a council-based business development organisation, and were then invited to create an Alice in Wonderland installation in Clayton Square. The theme related to a city-wide Alice in Wonderland festival, to tie in with the exhibition at Tate Liverpool.

The event was a great success, with hundreds of children and their families visiting the installation.

In addition to LJMU students, The Art Lids includes students from Wirral Metropolitan College. Members of The Art Lids are: Antonia Jones, Gemma Hulme, Hana Midgeley, Pip Preece, Pip Dye, Louise Crowe, Rebecca Foster, Rebecca Brown, Anna Mulhearn, Hannah Bolter, Hannah Day, Emily Tudge, Debrea Lewis, Louise Hastings and Amy Ryan.
