Entry Requirements

Normally applicants to the MA Tourism and Leisure or MA Tourism and Hospitality management Development Programmes must have:

  • An Honours degree from a UK university (or equivalent overseas qualification) or
  • Be the holder of a professional qualification recognised as carrying degree equivalence or
  • Have at least 3 years management experience at supervisory level (or above). These applicants may be interviewed prior to an offer being made plus

Achieved a level of English language competence to at least English GCSE (grade C) standard or have an equivalent (either IELTS 6.5 or above or TOEFL 580 or above - achieved within 24 months prior to application). Applicants who have studied and successfully passed a UK Degree within the previous 24 months are exempt from the requirements to produce evidence of competence in English.

A prospective student wishing to join the Programme who does not quite fully meet the above criteria is also encouraged to apply. After submitting their application form, the applicant may be offered an interview to ascertain their knowledge, skills and experience in relation to the Programme requirements (overseas applicants may be interviewed over the telephone). This would be performed by the Programme Leader (or nominated LJMU tutor).

Please note that references are also required with all applications, so please do not forget to include references with your application form. Those students applying on-line will need to send original references through the post to correspond with the on-line application. Decisions regarding acceptance on to the programme is the responsibility of the Programme Admissions Tutor and the Programme Admissions Tutor’s decision is final.
