Postgraduate Programmes
In addition to the undergraduate programmes, postgraduate programmes are offered within the Centre.
Teacher Training Courses (PGCE)
These courses are full time for 1 year:
- PGCE Leisure and Tourism
- PGCE Food and Textiles Technology
Master of Arts (MA)
These courses can be taken as either full time or part time:
- MA Tourism and Leisure Management Development
- MA Tourism and Hospitality Management Development
Research Degrees: Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
Suitably qualified students (an upper second class undergraduate award at least is normally required) may work towards these qualifications by submitting a thesis based on original research. An MPhil normally takes 2 years of full-time study and a PhD three years. Unless bursaries are available (which will be advertised) fees must be paid. The subject for study is by negotiation with individual staff members to fit the research strategy of the Centre and its resources.
For further preliminary informal information contact:
Dr Diane Grant: for projects related to social welfare and community studies.
Dr Allan Hackett for projects related to food, nutrition and health promotion.
Dr Hazel Andrews: for projects related to culture, tourism and leisure.
