Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure
The Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure excels in a wide range of areas, including teacher training, education and early childhood studies, tourism and leisure, events management, food studies, sport, dance and outdoor education. The Facuty also offers postgraduate programmes in advanced educational practice for teachers and educational professionals. The majority of our teaching takes place at the IM Marsh Campus, a modern ‘university village’ with excellent teaching facilities, a fully equipped Learning Resource Centre and a student social centre. Sporting facilities, including an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, dance studio and an all-weather sports surface are open to all students studying at the campus.
Innovative research and consultancy informs our courses at all levels, keeping our curriculum up-to-date and ensuring excellent results in OfSTED and HEFCE inspections. Whatever your needs, undergraduate, postgraduate, professional or technical, we will provide you with a rewarding, relevant and high quality educational experience.
The faculty has 3 directorates, with teaching delivered through Academic Centres in the Directorate of Academic Delivery.
A number of Cross-faculty teams and services provide overall support and outreach. As well as Work Related Learning and our internal administration teams, these include: Student Associates, which works with other regional providers; the Comino Centre, which is the local branch of a national educational foundation; and Marsh Sports. One major development is a newly-launched Centre of Excellence for Teaching and Learning.
